One Small Change

“You will never change your life until you change something you do daily.
The secret of your success is found in your daily routine.”

— John C. Maxwell

This quote really resonated with me because it gently reminds us that meaningful change rarely comes from one big overhaul. Instead, it comes from the small things we return to again and again often quietly and consistently.

One of the most supportive changes I’ve made since October has been slowly creating a morning routine. Not a rigid one, but something that helps me feel grounded and set up for the day ahead. I didn’t change everything at once. The shifts happened gradually, giving me time to settle into each habit before introducing the next.

Most mornings now include:
  • 15–30 minutes of meditation
  • Completing my 6-minute diary over coffee (gratitude, intention, affirmation)
  • Avoiding checking my phone for at least the first hour (with a quick scan, just in case anything urgent has come in)
  • A gentle lymphatic release using the MELT fascia hydrator (more on this soon)
This change has had a noticeable impact on my focus, mood, and overall sense of calm.

Not every morning looks the same and that’s important. On the odd occasion I can’t follow my routine exactly, I adapt it. That might mean a shorter meditation or fitting it in later rather than skipping it altogether.

Consistency doesn’t mean perfection.

Whenever I make changes, I always come back to my one simple change approach focusing on small, manageable steps rather than trying to do everything at once. I’ve shared how I do this below.

One Simple Change

Instead of trying to change everything at once, try this. Choose just one small habit and commit to it daily - or most days.

Your habit should be:
  • Easy to do
  • Enjoyable or neutral
  • Supportive rather than demanding
Some ideas:
  • 5 minutes of gentle movement or stretching each morning
  • A short body scan before bed
  • Drinking a glass of water before your first coffee
  • A 10-minute walk outside during daylight
  • One MELT release or Pilates exercise you already know
Once a week, take a moment to ask:
  • How does my body feel?
  • Is this habit helping me feel more spacious, calm, or supported?
  • Do I want to keep it, adjust it, or let it go?
Small, consistent changes really do add up and often in ways we don’t notice straight away.
